speed demon

Today as i was making my way to work on my bicycle, and some young kid doing his paper round thought he would "race the fat man." Well, as he started speeding up i was still speeding up after coming arond the corner and off the road onto the cycle path. Well, some people my find this petty, but i did increase my speed a little to keep a head of him. He naturally increased his speed to save himself fomr the embarrasment of my beating him. So naturally i actually put a little effort in rather than just plod along and left the kid EATING MY DUST! Childish? Sure. Pointless? Definately not, it put a smile on my face the out pace the little twerp. That will teach him to underestimate the larger members of the population, Muhahahahaha!

Not much else to say today. Its been relatively quite and calm at work. It's quite refreshing to have a lull in the work from time to time. gives me a chance to catch up on all those little tasks that aren't too important, but do need to be done eventually.

not again

music: Tryanny of souls

Yes, it's been another boring monday. Started with me making a mad dash to catch my train, because i woke up stupid early and fell asleep again only to sleep through my alarm. I got into work eventually only to remember i'm the only person there at that time in the morning this week due to holidays and stuff. All i can say is the day went damn slowly. If i had an analogue watch i would swear the hands were moving backwards today. Lunch was an amazing selection of salad (more like garnish), and the choice of tuna mayonaise, chicken mayonaise, potato salad (yes, yet more mayonaise). The other choce along with a selection of sliced meats was roasted vegetables, this in itself wouldn't be too bad, except for the fact that they manage to find every single horrid disgusting vegetale i hate and use them together. They are swimming in olive oil from the roasting process as well. I opted for the slightly more paletable chicken in curry sauce (chicken with curry powder mixed into the mayonaise), as i could actually see bits of chicken in that one rather than just mayonaise!

Lunchtime passed all to quickly today, and i got stuck right back into the work. One plus side this week is that the two people that are off means the office is nice and quiet. I barely heard and arguement at all today. Unlike Friday last week when a large 'debate' was sparked off at the announcement of a team building activity. Well, it hardly got us working together better, as some people looked on the verge of commiting homocide.

Highlight if the day has to go to the new Bruce Dickinson cd i picked up on the way home. Shame i couldn't manage to listen to the whole thing without interruption. I almost managed it, but mum phoned in the last 60 seconds of the final song. Way to spoil the moment mum!

Any how, that's about it for today. Lets see what boring humdrum stuff i can come up with for tomorrow.

what a week!

mood: catatonic

Well, it's been another busy week. What with sickness and holidays at work the office has been very short staffed at times which means more work for the people that are there. I must admit that i had a day off work this week myself though. It was purely for frivilous reasons though. I mean, after so long awaiting the release how could i not go to the first showing of the new Star Wars film! So on wednesday night i was queuing just under 3 hours before the film started at 00:35. I must also add that is was DEFINATELY worth the wait. It answered pretty much all of those annoying little questions that people have been wondering about since the last film came out. I know what people will be thinking. How sad it is to take a day off work to recover from going to see a film in the middle of the night, which resulted in my getting home at gone 3am. I can honestly say that some things are worth it, and this was IMO one of them. The other being things related to Iron Maiden.

Lets see, what else have i done. Hmm. Well, actually it's been a rather quiet week apart from that. I guess i'm getting rather boring.

oh, and on a final note, Eurovision is on tonight. Consequently i'm doing everything in my power not to watch anything related to it.

I don't like mondays

mood: the thin line between wake and sleep

Well, i'm a little more awake today. So i feel good enough to actually write a little more.

It was a very busy weekend, my mother insisted that i help out and do a few odd jobs around the house. Well, it's not like i wanted to sit down for five minutes anyway....

How the hell she gets through so much laundry i have no idea, she is only small yet she generates about three times as much as i do! Anyway, the lawn is mowed (i still dunno why it has to be cut every week, it doesn't grow that fast), the house is vacuumed, the laundry is all done, shopping done, meals cooked, other errands accomplished. To be honest i was quite glad to get back to work where at least i'm entitled to a break by law...

Tuesday, May 10th

wel then

mood: Wibble

I've been considering my original idea to post a message everyday, and i've come to the conclusion, that i can't be bothered. If you can't live with a message every other day then you can go jump!

Now, what has happened over the past few days. Well, on Saturday night i saw Kingdom of Heaven at the local cinema. Quite a good film, i've always enjoyed films with epic battle scenes in them. I must say though that Orlando Bloom, while i consider him a fairly good actor, does not have the type of build that i consider a blacksmith would usually have, and this was the second film that had him staring as a blacksmith by trade. I found him eintirely convincing as Legolas in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, he had what i considered the Elven look about him, the thinness with strength, but i just can't see him pounding a hammer all day around an anvil.

I also took the time to watch the new film version of The Phantom of the Opera. Bloody good film, i've sene a previous version staring Charles Dance once before many years ago, and i thought that i would be unlikely to recognise any songs but Phantom of the Opera, yet i found myself humming along to quite lot of the tunes. I guess it just goes to show the genius of Andrew Lloyd Webber that i can remember the music after so long.

Oh, and on a side note, work is boring at the moment, and they have also decided not to give anyone a payrise this year. Colour me not impressed in the slightest!

Saturday, May 7th

so i've been a bit lapse in my updates

mood: just about alive

Well, in the last three days there has been a change of government. Alright it wasn't much of a change, all that really happened is that the Labour majority went down by a rather considerable amount. But it was a change nonetheless. Tony Blair remains Prime Minister. I don't think much of him myself, but i do believe that out of the three main candidates he was the only person that i thought was capable of doing the job.

The weather is bloody warm at the moment. God i wish it was a little cooler, i can't abide all this heat. It's giving me a headache, and hurting my eyes. And people always wondered why i prefer to stay inside and avoid the sunshine. Although staying inside is not much better, it is still terribly hot here, even with two fans on.

Also, i've hurt my damn back again. God, i need a holiday.

this and that

mood: over the moon, in a tired way

no matter how much or little sleep i get i always seem to be tired right now. Work is rather boring, and we seem to always be short of staff right now.

Election day tomorrow. My postal vote form was so late arriving that i haven't had a chance to post it yet. I guess i will be dropping it into the polling station myself tomorrow evening. Nice to know that it take over three weeks to post out one little bit of paper to me for voting.

I'm signing off now, much sleep needed, although i doubt it will do me any good.

tea, snooker and holidays

mood: asleep

Well, the bank holiday weekend has come to an end. Back to work again tomorrow, unfortunately. Spending a long weekend at home with family can be a real chore, not just because i seem to be given loads of chores. Honestly, if people want grass in their garden then they should damn well mow it themselves, not hassle me away from my important lounging to mow it.

I also seem to find that with the visitation of family i have drunk gallons of tea. Whilel i was by myself i probably had about 3 cups of tea in almost 3 months (very unbritish i know), but this weekend alone i must have had getting on 15. I'm not quite sure whether this is a good thing or not.

The snooker is finishing today, after 17 days of non-stop action. And a rather fun surprise in the form of Murphy blasting his way through matches with 3 previous champions to get to the final. I bet a few bookies are kicking themselves with the odds they gave him at the start of the tournament!
